I hate teething.
Really.
I do.
No, I'm not teething, silly, Miss C is. Well, Miss C is definitely an overachiever when it comes to teeth. She has a ton of teeth, 16 at last count, but we haven't seen a new one in over 8 months. Now Miss C is getting at least 2 of her 2 year molars (the other two appear to be close to breaking through as well). With one molar, we might get through with just a little pain. With at least two, well, with two comes a fever and lots of mouth pain, poor munchkin.
Miss C started running a fever after school yesterday. I gave her meds before dinner and she was fever free by morning, no issues. Happy as a clam. DH got a call just before lunch that Miss C was running a fever of 102. He got there right away and she was fine, except for the fever.
DH got Miss C home and she said no to lunch (an obvious indicator that she must not be 100% because she eats like me, every couple of hours!) and took a nap. DH gave her some meds and her fever does seem to be responding but meds only work for so long. Hopefully once the molars break through the fever and associated fussiness will go away, but for now, ugh.
I thankfully was able to get my back up support over here for tomorrow but I know that DH and I are probably going to compete for who gets to get home sooner to take care of Miss C. It will help but it won't take away that parent guilt that comes with not being there when you think you are the only person that can make things better. Ugh.
We're trying everything we can think of: ice, cold wash cloths, cold food, chewy cold teething rings, etc.
Have I mentioned that I hate teething? Does anyone have any advice???

Someone is getting to be a big girl
Ok. So you all have followed the recent events with the ear infection so let me give you a quick update. Last night Miss C slept very poorly. Just like when we figured out she had an ear infections so of course I am stressed out. Aside from getting even less sleep than she, I am worrying that Miss C has another ear infection or her antibiotics didn't quite work as advertised. She also has a bit of a diaper rash (Alphagal warned this might happen after the antibiotics) so we decided to see the doctor regardless. We got an appointment for this morning and headed off to learn our fate.
Well, after a little umm and ahh talk while looking in her ears, the doctor announced that they look beautiful. So, huh, what is the problem? I reminded him that she had been running a low grade fever and got kind of snotty starting yesterday. We managed to get her mouth open and would you believe it?! She has not 1 but 3 new teeth coming in! Yep, the other front tooth and the two on either side of the two top front teeth. Oh boy! That surely explains her inability to sleep soundly. I got the go ahead for Tylenol (the doc actually thinks orajel is pretty bunk and recommends Tylenol and some cold stuff to chew on). We also got some more Nystasin (it is in her happy hiney cream but they don't carry the ready made stuff here so I get the ingredients separately and mix them myself. Yea.) for her bum. Thank goodness it wasn't worse.
Miss C fell asleep in the car on the way home. Poor, tuckered out little one. Hopefully I will be able to help her through this stage. I totally feel for Alphagal and SNG's pain with the molars. I can only hope that next time Miss C only gets one new tooth at a time but who knows, eh?
So, anyone have any sure fire advice on how else to help Miss C?

From slow to GO!
Miss C has been going through some serious changes these past few months, none so radical as those we witness this past week.
As I mentioned when she turned 8 months old, Miss C started to crawl. That start was, as expected, slow going. She would go forward a couple of moves then stop and play, whatever. This morning, after we hung out in DH's recliner for a little while, Miss C wanted to go play. She has a Fisher Price kitchen in our family room that she likes to play with.
Today, instead of putting her next to it, I put her down at my feet and said "go ahead, baby, go play." To my shock and amazement, she went. She apparently figuerd out drive and an even faster gear!
In addition to her mobility, Miss C has two seriously sharp teeth. If you zoom in on this picture, they are quite clear!
We have been working on finger foods (carrots, peas, gerber baby finger foods) and have discovered a love of Cheerios. Anyone who has a little one knows that this cereal is apparently a favortire among babues. Miss C likes to have them after I feed her breakfast. We don't do fingerfoods well enough yet to make a whole meal out of them so we have them after our cereal and some veggies or fruit so we are getting enough to eat.
That's pretty much it for now. Just wanted to catch ya'll up! I will try to post another video when we get a break around here.
Until then, as always, drop a line and say ya'll are still out there!

School, teeth, what a busy week!
Well, school started for me on Wednesday. I am only taking one class this semester because I don't want to do too much or not have enough time to properly devote the time to Miss C. We're only in the first week but we already have a very full syllabus which culminates in a PR campaign concept package which was developed based on research we have to conduct earlier in the semester. Yep, loving life!
Actually, I think I will be ok. I always (ask DH) get this way about school. The main difference this semester is that I don't even look at anything until Miss C is in bed. I have to devote my time to her when she is awake especially when I only get a few of those hours on week days. We've taken to going on "Adventures" on the weekends. Mainly that consists of going to the grocery store or visiting a friend, but it gets Miss C out with one or both of us and she gets to have some fun away from home. She seems to be enjoying it!
Speaking of Miss C, her bottom teeth are finally coming in full. For the past few months we have been going through the agony of having her teeth come up through the gums only to go back down or actually have the gums swell up around them and Miss C have to go through that yet again. On Tuesday she got home from Mrs J's and it just seemed like something was bugging her. While playing with her, she took my finger and stuck it in her mouth and voila! Teeth! I am attaching my attempt to get a photo of the teeth but she is kind of camera shy today. If you check out flickr, you can see some other ones we took recently where she is actually starting to ham the camera!
Ok, other than school and teeth, work is picking up for both myself and DH. Unfortunately, DH has to go on a trip for a couple of weeks soon. He's pretty sure that Miss C will figure out how to go from reverse to drive in her crawling right when he leaves. I am afraid he might be right. She sure seems ready.
That's pretty much it for now. Sorry I haven't been updating as frequently but you know how it goes!
Post a comment every now and then to let me know you all are still reading this, ok?
