Family addition update

Wanted to post some photos of our little niece. She is just adorable! Miss C can't wait to meet the newest addition, Miss A!

Quick family update

Miss C is now officially not the youngest member of our family.
My brother, W, and his wife, L, welcomed their little girl into the world last night. She was a couple of weeks early but weighed in at a solid 9 pounds. Congrats you guys! Call if you need anything!

Enjoying dinner and learning

We have learned some neat things recently.
1. From a mother to be, my sister in law, L, we learned that if you put a little sugar in tomato sauce, it takes out the acidity. This is terrific because Miss C loves spaghetti, as you can see below!


















2. We learned that the best clean up for spaghetti is a bath, the results are below.



















3. We learned that combining squash and spaghetti makes Miss C a happy girl. She ate spaghetti squash alfredo for lunch and boy was she happy!

4. We learned that if we have a walking stick, Miss C must have her own walking stick for hikes, even if she is in a back pack carrier.

35 weeks and counting AND Baby shower!

Wow, what a busy week! First we should address these pictures. OMG! I am getting huge! I swear, I am standing the exact same way as before, Little Miss C just decided to punch out a few doors and make more room in there for herself. Trust me, it feels like she is using a sledgehammer sometimes! Other than that, we're doing well. My back is much better and DH is finding creative ways of getting me to slow down (darn him!).

The shower! Oh my gosh, I don't know where to start. First, thank you to K and J for setting it up and decorating, the house was beautiful. I hated to have to take it down. Second, to all who where here in person or in spirit, I don't know what i did to deserve such wonderful friends and family as you, but DH, Little Miss C and I truly appreciate everything you did and continue to do. Its overwhelming. So much so that, truth be told, Little Miss C didn't let me sleep at all last night (might have had a little something to do with cake so be sure to check out the photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/7538411@N06/sets/72157600183224099/). Thank you K for being the recorder, due to your hard work I will get the Thank you cards out early this week!

DH and I have to do a little inventory and accounting and get moving. He called yesterday the "lever" day where before it we couldn't go shopping and today we can, so we need to figure out what else Miss C needs. We're in that first time parent preparing for baby's arrival mode (OK, maybe not as totally freaked out as we will get in a couple of weeks, but we're getting there!) and need to get our bags packed and ready to go. I told him we have to pick up the stroller soon (its so cute, you guys, all pink and stuff. I know "there she goes again"!).

Oh, let's talk about party games, shall we? There is apparently a game (Thanks P!) where people guess how big my belly is! That would be cool except that everyone guessed at least a foot larger than it was! Some people guessed my belly was bigger around than they are tall! Holy cow! ;-)

Well, that's pretty much it for now. Like I said, I uploaded the pictures and put a link earlier in this entry. Everything is so cute and so small. Alphagal and E-baby, note your adorable socks aren't in the pictures because they are on my desk where we oohhhed and ahhhhed as soon as we got them (as per your directions!). Miss C will love them, thank you so much.

33 weeks and counting

Well, another week has gone by. Depending on who you ask, I look larger or I look the same. The biggest difference I have noticed is how busy little miss C-baby is. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, she practically dances to music. I think its the neatest thing but it can be painful. In fact, I fully expect to find my belly laden with bruises one of these days. She's a strong little one!

We're very excited and getting more so every day. It's difficult not to go out and buy everything we see, but we are being patient. We have terrific friends and family who want to share in this and make small purchases for c-baby. So until we know what she has already, we're holding out.

School is still going reasonably well. As with other things that take up our time, its getting more challenging to pay attention when the little alien tries to poke her little hands and feet out. I was in the middle of a meeting on Friday when I had to sit back and put my hand on her little head to calm her down! I swear, my belly had more waves than the ocean, she was so busy!

Well, that's pretty much it. I hope you all are enjoying watching the growth as much as I am. I promise if I can get a photo of her little feet sticking up, I will. Until then, you'll just have to take my word that she is rambunctious! I can't wait!

32 weeks and counting

Do we still go by weeks at this point or do we say we are in our 8th month? I must admit I am a trifle confused when it comes to the transition point! I have figured out the belly is all in

how you dress her. I mean, think about it, if you wear tight clothes, the belly shows more, right? I wear most of my clothes under the belly; I think she shows less then. Anyway!

I am going back to work on Monday after a week off. I took time off for C & M to be in town and just because. We have so many days we are required to take per year and can only "roll over" (you know, like cell phone minutes) so many. Well, as it turns out, I am maxed out on my roll over and the military is generous enough to give me 42 days to convalesce (free leave to recover) after the baby is born. So... I have to find creative uses for my remaining leave in order to not lose it. I am making the most of it by using it to find the house, work on school stuff, etc. I will keep a few extra days on the books in case I need them later this summer.

Well, that's about it. DH made it back yesterday, yippee! Both the cat and I are thrilled to see him. Little Miss C expressed her pleasure throgh numerous belly thumps upon hearing his voice (or that was because of breakfast, not really sure;-))
