I haven't posted one of these in a while and with DH gone, I thought I would post one. Today I managed to have the camera at hand when Miss C showed me her most recent accomplishment, kneeling. She is also getting much better at going from her tummy to sitting down.
I have to wonder if Miss C is going to be pulling herself to a standing position or perhaps crawling in the near future. Anyone have any ideas?

Snow day
Hard to imagine but we got a "snow day" today at work. Its actually called a "Key and Essential Personnel Only" day but its a snow day. Check this out. It's our driveway!
Miss C and I went on an "adventure" yesterday to the grocery store and I am glad we made it when we did. Not that I ever run out of anything, just that I feel better knowing we are restocked on all of our fruits and veggies. Miss C discovered her new "favorite" toy, a small lemon. Just the right size and texture to make a fine teething toy! I love finding new stuff. We found out on accident because I needed her to hang out in her seat in the kitchen while I brought groceries in and unloaded them. Awesome fun!
Speaking of Miss C, she is doing fine. Missing DH but fine none the less. The cat on the otherhand is pissed off beyond belief. I don't get a chance to sit with her as much as DH does so when he is gone, well, she doesn't get as much attention. Ah, well, we'll be fine!
Other than that, not much else to report! Anyone else getting snow today?

School, teeth, what a busy week!
Well, school started for me on Wednesday. I am only taking one class this semester because I don't want to do too much or not have enough time to properly devote the time to Miss C. We're only in the first week but we already have a very full syllabus which culminates in a PR campaign concept package which was developed based on research we have to conduct earlier in the semester. Yep, loving life!
Actually, I think I will be ok. I always (ask DH) get this way about school. The main difference this semester is that I don't even look at anything until Miss C is in bed. I have to devote my time to her when she is awake especially when I only get a few of those hours on week days. We've taken to going on "Adventures" on the weekends. Mainly that consists of going to the grocery store or visiting a friend, but it gets Miss C out with one or both of us and she gets to have some fun away from home. She seems to be enjoying it!
Speaking of Miss C, her bottom teeth are finally coming in full. For the past few months we have been going through the agony of having her teeth come up through the gums only to go back down or actually have the gums swell up around them and Miss C have to go through that yet again. On Tuesday she got home from Mrs J's and it just seemed like something was bugging her. While playing with her, she took my finger and stuck it in her mouth and voila! Teeth! I am attaching my attempt to get a photo of the teeth but she is kind of camera shy today. If you check out flickr, you can see some other ones we took recently where she is actually starting to ham the camera!
Ok, other than school and teeth, work is picking up for both myself and DH. Unfortunately, DH has to go on a trip for a couple of weeks soon. He's pretty sure that Miss C will figure out how to go from reverse to drive in her crawling right when he leaves. I am afraid he might be right. She sure seems ready.
That's pretty much it for now. Sorry I haven't been updating as frequently but you know how it goes!
Post a comment every now and then to let me know you all are still reading this, ok?

Blanket? (No, not MJ's kid!)
Ok, here's a question, did anyone else's little one put blankets on their head?
Miss C has taken to pulling her blanket up over her head when she sleeps. Well, not just that, she is mobile in her crib. I swear she does laps at night to see if we will come see her. She also pulls her legs straight up and thumps her mattress. It sounds like she is wresting in there!
Back to the blanket. It's not just here either, when she is at Mrs J's house, she does it too. I've been freaking out because I go check on Miss C before I got to bed and there lies Miss C with her entire blanket on her head. DH swears she kicks it up there throughout the night. She has woken up a couple of nights recently because she is stuck in a corner with a darn blanket on her head.
Now, let me lay your concerns to rest by letting you know that she can breathe through her blankets. I have personally tested each of them, as has Miss C by now, and there is no issue there. I think its just a habit issue.
Per Mrs. J's suggestion, we've given her a "blankie" (I wrote it like that because it is actually a flour sack cloth we used to wrap her in when we lived down south with the center bunched and tied (multiple knots) with a cloth ribbon) and she cuddles with it and puts it over her head instead of her blanket. Not sure if it will keep her from pulling that darn blanket over her head throughout the night though!
Anyone have any recommendations?

Miss C is 7 months old!
Wow. Where has the time gone? One minute we're moving up to the Pacific Northwest with a little 4 month old and the next, we have a very active, very vocal 7 month old. Ok, maybe not a minute, but you know what I mean. Let's do a quick recap of Miss C's latest talents:
1. Miss C has become much more vocal. In addition to the "ba, ga, da" sounds, she practically holds complete conversations with her stuffed animals, us, her pacifier, anything within range basically.
2. Miss C signs milk! No kidding! I have been signing to her for about 4 months now and every now and then when I ask her if she is hungry, she signs milk and then (to emphasize maybe?) pats my chest!
3. Miss C waves! She learned this one from her Grandpa at Christmas. Well, she perfected it then. She even waved to the check out lady at Target last weekend. She does save it for someone deserving though. :)
4. Miss C scoots around backwards, sometimes its a crawl, sometimes its a slither, in any case, its progress.

5. A follow on of her scooting is, Miss C has figured out how to get from her tummy to seated. Its kind of difficult to explain but basically, she gets onto all fours then rocks back until she is practically in the splits and then sits. Ok, not too hard to explain, just to do. She is trying to smooth out her transition from seated to tummy (its not automatic yet and it's really starting to frustrate her) as well as work on the forward crawling. DH tries to show her but I think she just gets tired of being shown and wants to do it on her own. Wonder where she gets that? ;-)
6. Miss C has a couple of new games she likes to play. First is "Peek a boo." You all already know how much fun this game can be. We can even play it with her animals. She giggles and squeals at the game! Her second game is empty the box. We put random toys (some store bought like rattles, some home made like cut straws in an empty water bottle) and she empties the box. She takes a while to empty it and pretty much ignores us the entire time. Its seems to amaze her that there is so much in such a little space.
7. Miss C kisses "little babies" or anything she associates as such. I mentioned this after we visited Poobou. its true! She does the same hug and kiss to her Pooh Bear and her pink elephant as she did with Cate. Very sweet. Only concern is her new playmate at Mrs J's is going to be a wee little one. Mrs J has been forewarned so I am sure she will protect the new little one like she did Miss C from the toddler who just left.
Well, that's about it. Miss c went back to Mrs J's on Tuesday since we are both back at work. She wasn't quite herself the first day but then again, neither was I. Turns out, we really kind of miss each other! (Yea, big shocker there!). But, as I understand it, today she had a great day. I am just really happy that Miss C is so comfortable there. If everything works out for us, I may not have to find another care provider when I have to stand those silly watches. I just have to get the schedule so Mrs J and I can see what we can work out. I would be so relieved to know that Miss C doesn't have to adjust to another big change just now.
Ok, so, hope everyone is doing great. Post a comment every now and then so I know you all are still out there, ok?

Happy New Year!
Sorry I am a little behind the power curve here, but we only got back yesterday.
We had a terrific time visiting DH's family! Miss C is getting used to her grandparents but apparently remembered her Auntie J very well as the minute J walked in the house, Miss C gave her just the cutest little grin! Its nice to know that Miss C thinks Auntie J is cool!
We spent our days visiting and opening gifts, lots and lots of gifts (thank yous to come, promise!) and just enjoying each others company.
We, ok I, took lots of pictures and you can see them at our flickr account (just go to the badge). Its funny, I get teased about taking lots of photos, but I think everyone kind of likes them! As a gift, we put together some different collages for DH's parents, his grandma and his sister. They all told us they would put the pictures up once they came up with a location.
After we landed from our flight back, we stopped by Poobou's house to visit and take a break from the traveling. If you remember, we, Miss C and I, did this when we first moved up here. During that visit, the girls kind of ignored each other and when we took photos at the end, Poobou's Miss C petted my Miss C's head and tried to lick her.
Well, I think the tables turned this time! From the minute they were both on the floor, my Miss C kept trying to pull the other C close to her. She managed to grab onto her shirt while we were taking photos but it wasn't until we put the cameras up and were saying our good byes that she got what she wanted. Apparently, Miss C thinks C is another stuffed animnal or maybe even a baby, since we are always playing "kisses" we think that's why when Miss C finally did manage to get a hold of C that she kissed her face! It was too funny for words. Unfortunately, C cried. Luckily, Poobou managed to calm her down with some Tigger and Friends. Like I said, too cute, too funny!
